Changing of diesel engine operating conditions (loading, speed). The diesel engine runs in low speed and high loading, when the diesel engine has problem or ships full loading, against the wind, fouling makes outside loading increase, the diesel engine running speed is down, speed automatically controller increases the amount of fuel at this moment automatically, it makes diesel engine keep running in low speed but high loading. Because the increasing the amount of fuel ,so exhausting is increasing also,it will inevitably cause increasing of turbocharger running speed and compressor displacement and discharge pressure . While the diesel engine speed is low and needs less air,This brakes the supplying and demanding balance between turbocharger air supplying and diesel engine air consumption. 

Entering into sea area of low temperature, air density increases due to environment temperature is lower, the air flow of compressor is improving, so turbocharger energy is increasing.  The increasing of turbocharger speed makes the matching operation line move to the lower area, the surge margin increased.; But entering into the high temperature area is opposite, the decreasing of surge margin is easy to surge. Some ships which are equipped with diesel engine without air cooler in low temperature sea area enter into high temperature sea area, or some ships which are equipped with diesel engine with air cooler in high temperature sea area enter into low temperature sea area, as the application relationship of two parties is changing, the operating point is easy to close surge area and cause surge.

Pay attention to check the operation condition of the turbocharger frequently

Before driving car and after driving the car, paying attention to check the airway connection of each pipe to prevent it from loosing and dropping, it can cause turbocharger losing efficacy and air short circuit into the cylinder.

Thus, after turbocharged the engine , structure of parts is reinforced, in terms of using and maintenance, it must reinforce engine maintenance in force and operate correctly.

So when engine works with the big load and long time, it should idle 3-5 min before stalling. To stall after turbocharger rotor speed is down. Specially to avoid to rush to refuel after stalled.

This is the role of stalling delay device.
